New solution for municipalities: investment-free schools

 - "Schools are much more than buildings to municipalities and towns. Functioning and healthy schools are significant competitive factors and send a message that the municipality invests in children and young people," says Petri Kauppinen, specialist of services in schooling at Suomen Hoivatilat.

In recent years, Suomen Hoivatilat has built as many as 70 day-care centres in dozens of Finnish municipalities and towns. Customers have also been interested in having Suomen Hoivatilat as a real estate partner in school projects. To respond to this demand, Suomen Hoivatilat has planned a school concept which combines the latest pedagogical, architectural and technological expertise. The aim of the design and building processes is that the building is a technically functional healthy learning environment with an excellent indoor climate.

Suomen Hoivatilat has invited leading experts in learning, education and learning environments in Finland to the external steering group of the school concept. Members of the steering group are:

-        Johan Granholm, director, Lappset Creative

-        Markku Lang, M.Sc. (Ed.), M.A., project manager, Oulu University

-        Kirsti Lonka, professor of educational psychology, Helsinki University

-        Olli Niemi, adjunct professor, research and development, University Properties of Finland Ltd.

-        Peter Vesterbacka, brand breaker, Lightneer

The concept of Suomen Hoivatilat allows municipalities and towns to build modern facilities to meet the requirements of the new curriculum without making any separate investments.

- "We have developed a new funding and service concept alongside the conventional leasing model, especially for municipal customers. This is a lifecycle model, in which customers can rent or lease facilities from Suomen Hoivatilat. During the agreement period, we can offer maintenance and upkeep services as agreed upon. The first project following this concept is already under construction in Siilinjärvi," says Jussi Karjula, CEO of Suomen Hoivatilat.

Launch at Kuntamarkkinat event on 13 September at 1:30 p.m.

Suomen Hoivatilat will hold a briefing event concerning the school launch at the Kuntamarkkinat event (House of Municipalities, Alppikatu 1, Helsinki). At the event, CEO Jussi Karjula and service manager Petri Kauppinen will demonstrate the concept. The briefing event will be held in room A3.21 on the third floor.
